When a page on your website doesn't load, an error message will be displayed to the website visitor. As there are different errors, there are different pages that'll show up, but what is typical for all of them is that they're generic and in all probability shall have practically nothing in common with the layout of your site, which can be annoying for any visitor. This is the main reason why website hosting companies have introduced a function referred to as Custom Error Pages. For a wide variety of different errors, website visitors will see your custom made content, which could be informative or funny, based on your taste, and that will match the design and style of your site, so the pages won't appear as if they are not part of your website at all. You can use this option for a variety of errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).

Custom Error Pages in Shared Web Hosting

You can set up customized error pages for all of your sites with ease if you use any of our Linux shared web hosting plans. This can easily be done using the Hosted Domains section of the Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with all accounts and when you go there, you can set your custom made pages independently for any domain or subdomain. You have to upload the files to your account before you start and enter the links to them through the process. This function could be de-activated whenever you want and the options you'll be able to select from are a conventional page from our system or a default Apache web server page. Custom made error pages can be set with an .htaccess file too. The file should be placed in the domain or subdomain folder and it should contain some system code and links to the pages. If you aren't tech-savvy, you could copy the whole content needed for the file from our Help section.

Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers

Incorporating your pages for each of the four error types to any website hosted through a semi-dedicated server account with us shall be very basic and won't take more than a few clicks. As soon as you upload the files in your account, you could navigate to the Hosted Domains section of your Hepsia Control Panel and edit any of the domains and subdomains listed there using an intuitive interface with drop-down navigation. You may choose what page should appear for every error type. Your options are a standard Apache server page or a page from our system, and tailor-made pages. If you select the abovementioned option, you have to type in the link to every single page inside your account, then save the change. The link or the type of page which appears when a user encounters an error can be changed anytime. If you are more experienced, you may use an .htaccess file to set personalized error pages too, as an alternative to using our integrated generator software instrument, and in case you select this option, the file needs to be positioned inside the root directory of a given domain or subdomain.
